Curriculum Plan:
IT IS GOING TO BE AN EXCITING YEAR WITH MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUR CHILD TO GROW
Your child is now ready to learn and grow through 3rd grade. They have completed the necessary foundation skills in 1st grade and in 2nd grade. Grade 3 is a very important time in your child’s education, because it’s when students transition from the “lower grades” to the “upper grades.” They become more independent and mature learners and they are receptive to new ideas and experiences.

Social Studies:
The Science curriculum is divided into three areas of study- Life Science, Earth Science and Physical Science. Students will be completing science experiments as practice for the science fair. They will be advised when to begin researching for their science projects. Start thinking about it now!
STEM: (Science,Technology,Engineering, Mathematics)
As we move the students towards the future, we now have a period designated to curriculum instruction that incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering and Math as one solid area of study.
Arts/Gym/ Technology and Music:
Art, Music, and, Technology and Physical Education are all part of the third grade curriculum and will be offered at least once each week.

- 25 books are to be read, covering various subjects and genres
- Reading responses will be kept on reading logs and in reading response journals
- Reading series is integrated with other subject areas
- Workbooks, stories, poems and articles are used to practice similar passages and questions to ELA state exams
Writing
- Usage of the Writing Workshop (Drafting, Revising, Editing and Publishing)
- Using the writer’s journal
- Integrating research and technology skills in writing
Math:
- Pearson Math: Envision 2.0 Common Core Lessons, Projects and other math activities.
- Math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) should be memorized.
- Math journal: Problem of the night – “Show all Work” – children must be able to write out and explain how they got their answers:
Social Studies:
- Geography skills, Communities around the World
- Magnet Study
- Current Events
